My research combines expertise and insights from multiple disciplines and study systems to answer questions about population and community dynamics and assess how to effectively communicate this research to a science curious audience. For my current work, this translates into (a) understanding how bee diversity changes through time and urbanization using museum specimens, and (b) testing whether the spokesperson communicating a science story influences perceptions of that story. For my past research, this translated to understanding the processes and mechanisms behind ant-mediated seed dispersal of Neotropical pioneer tree species that do not provide visible food rewards for their ant dispersers.
